The physical aesthetics of the places we live, work, and play can affect mental and physical well-being. Improvements made to the community through well-maintained green spaces, gateways, and corridors can ultimately improve quality of life. In addition, well-maintained communities increase property values and strengthen the economic vitality of the community as they attract others to the community. Supporting the improvements must be a collaboration between the community and local government.

The question regarding neighbors’ satisfaction with the overall flow of traffic is asked in each of the City’s Neighbor Survey that have been conducted by a third-party contractor, ETC Institute, from 2012-2021, administered annually between the months of October and December. ETC Institute ensures that the results are statistically significant, and representative of the population of the City, both demographically and geographically (by district). The City moved to a new vendor, Zencity, for survey administration in 2023. The survey remains statistically valid and representative of the City.

In 2020, the City changed how the neighbor surveys are administered. The annual Neighbor Survey was replaced with a Business Survey, and going forward they will be conducted every other year to solicit feedback from residents as well as the business community.

The target was established to align with the 2018 Florida benchmark provided by the ETC Institute.

Data is collected from the City’s Neighbor Survey that has been conducted by a third-party contractor, the ETC Institute, annually since 2012. All of the Neighbor Surveys can be accessed at the City’s website: https://www.fortlauderdale.gov...
