As part of a larger vision that seeks to enhance the livability within the City while continuing to foster economic growth, one goal of the City of Fort Lauderdale is to become more multimodal, pedestrian friendly, and connected. Careful consideration is given to the inclusion and installation of bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and shared use paths as transportation projects are designed and implemented throughout the City.

The linear feet of installed pedestrian friendly facilities (bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and shared use paths) throughout the City are tracked with the completion of projects and then totaled at the end of each fiscal year.

The target was established by increasing the installed linear feet by 50,000 linear feet per year over the course of five years.

Data is contained within a log of projects maintained by the Transportation & Mobility and Public Works Departments for new roadway improvement projects completed by the City, Florida Department of Transportation, and Broward County.
