The number of retail properties and restaurants is an indicator of the market growth, business attraction, and health of the local economy and an indicator of the progress towards building an attractive global and local economic community marketplace.

This measure counts the number of retail and restaurant business tax licenses on file with the City.  The business categories included in this measure include retail, wholesale stock, restaurant, and sidewalk café regardless of license status (i.e., open, in process, and delinquent).

The target was established by determining a desired increase of 10 new retail businesses/restaurants each year.

Data is derived from the City’s Business Tax Division and is logged in Accela, the City’s land management system.
