In Broward County, the total rent charged  to every person who rents or leases any living quarters or accommodations for a period of six months or less is subject to a tourist development tax. Living quarters and accommodations include locations such as a hotel/motel, apartment, rooming house, mobile home/RV park, condominium, timeshare or single-family home. Tracking the percentage of total Broward County tourism taxes that are generated by Fort Lauderdale measures the strength of the City's tourism industry, as well as determine the effectiveness of any tourism-oriented marketing campaigns or business incentives.
