Primary standards and treatment techniques protect public health by limiting the levels of contaminants in drinking water. 

Fort Lauderdale's urban tree canopy plays a vital role in the livability and sustainability of the City. Trees remove air pollutants and improve air quality, intercept rainfall and reduce stormwater runoff, increase property values, save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, provide shade, and promote physical activity. 

The number of breaks in a water distribution system is measured to assess the system's reliability and condition, and to aid in decision making around pipe maintenance and replacement. 

Cleaning and inspecting sewer lines are essential to maintaining a properly functioning system; these activities further a community's reinvestment into its wastewater infrastructure. 

This performance measure monitors the average time spent on three of the City’s major corridors Broward Blvd (between US1 & SW 18th Ave), Davie Blvd (between US1 & I-95), and Sunrise Blvd (between 4State Rd 7 & US-1 Federal HWY (based on the volume of vehicles). The data queried tracks vehicle Bluetooth signals. Monitoring time spent allows for improved staff responsiveness. Eventually, the goal is to have data for each major corridor in the City.

Public transportation can move more people in less space than individual cars, which can ease traffic congestion and have a positive impact on the environment. 

One way to enhance quality of life in the City is to have infrastructure in place that incorporates easy access to safe bicycle lanes, sidewalks and shared use paths for neighbors.

This performance measure is used to gauge the demand and usage of the Community Shuttle which is critical in understanding the programs overall effectiveness and guide decision making for future improvements.
