This measure allows the City to be more responsive and proactive to traffic congestion issues that may arise and to advise Broward County of emerging traffic issues for coordination of signal timing.

This measure monitors the average time (seconds) vehicles spend on three of the City’s major corridors:

·         Broward Boulevard (between US-1 and SW 18th Avenue)

·         Davie Boulevard (between US-1 and I-95)

·         Sunrise Boulevard (between State Rd 7 and US-1)

The Department has partnered with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to install BlueTOAD devices on major traffic corridors throughout the City. These devices allow for real time tracking and historical record keeping of travel times. This information is shared with other agencies, such as FDOT and Broward County Traffic Engineering Division (BCTED), and is used to assist with planning, design, and construction projects. The data is measured and reported in seconds.

The target was established by analyzing historical data and considering current efforts by Broward County and FDOT on signal timing modifications and roadway improvements.

The data is collected through BlueTOAD devices, which are managed and maintained by Broward County Traffic Engineering Division.
