The City seeks to enhance the livability while continuing to foster economic growth by becoming more multimodal, pedestrian friendly and connected. Careful consideration is given to the inclusion and installation of bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and shared use paths as transportation projects are designed and implemented throughout the City.

The linear feet of installed pedestrian friendly facilities (bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and shared use paths) throughout the City is tracked at the completion of projects.

The target was established by increasing the installed linear feet by 50,000 feet per year over five years.

FDOT and Broward County projects are budgeted/approved well in advance, as such there are years where the number of linear feet of new bike/sidewalk/crosswalk infrastructure is not as significant as others. This year there are 27 projects in either design or construction that will add sidewalks, bike lanes or crosswalks, which will likely result in a higher number of projects being completed in 2024.

Data is contained within a log of projects maintained by the Transportation & Mobility and Public Works Departments for new roadway improvement projects completed by the City, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and Broward County.
